Some of the million reasons to enter a beauty pageant.
You probably don’t think there are any reasons to enter a beauty pageant, but we here to tell you there are a million of reasons why you should! A lot of people think that it’s all about the big hair, beauty, walking around on stage, and being fake! I’m here to tell you the real reasons to enter a beauty pageant…and as a picture tells more then thousand words, you will see it by yourself from the imagers, captured by Romualdo Nubla, MBFW photographer.
1. Pageants Are Fun, Sparkles, Glitter and Shine!
Beauty pageant are fun. There is nothing like getting dressed up and being seen by other people. Girls, we all love the long evening gowns worn at pageants. As a young child, most of our favorite pastimes was playing dress-up, pretending to be a princess or a singer onstage. The glitzier, the better: velvet, taffeta, and silk, trimmed with beads, sequins and rhinestones. Pageants give you a time to dress to the nines, wear the sparkly jewelry, put your hair in an up-do, and enjoy the spotlight.
Taking this interest a step further, you can research the colors which work best with your hair, skin and eye color. Then analyze your figure to find the most flattering styles to accentuate your good points. Take modeling courses to help you walk gracefully and with good posture. This could also lead to paying modeling jobs.

2. Gaining Confidence.
The most important of a million reasons to enter a beauty pageant is to build self-confidence. Even if one does not win the contest, the act of participation itself might be quite a way to boost your confidence, if not taken to the extremes. After all, despite the claims made by various groups, everyone likes to know that they are somehow appreciated, be it for their intelligence or their looks. As with most things in life, if taken to the extreme, one could base their whole self-esteem on what others may think but we are talking here about positive life changing experience!
Gaining confidence is good for any person of any age. Taking part in a pageant will surely help to build a person’s confidence because the event will be held in front of an audience of friends and strangers. Even if a contestant does not win, the fact that she participated is enough to lift her spirits and raise her confidence.
3. Beauty contest is a doorway.
While it is obvious that the central aspect of any beauty pageant is, well, beauty, there is other qualities that a winner must display to get the title and the tiara. Most contests have their own set rules, but it seems to be common knowledge that a real winner should not only be beautiful but also intelligent, true to herself, not fake and capable of taking interest in various social issues and do a fundraising. Many of beauty contest often have events including fundraising, that encourage girls to display their talents and intelligence, that are more than a little important to a contestant’s winning chances.
There are so many things you learn not only about yourself, but also about communication skills, leadership, interviews, and poise! Beauty contest is a doorway for those who want to be on stage, give back, and of course learn more about themselves! Because out of the whole weekend, you learn so much that it’s beyond mind blowing what you can grasp!
Show your talents.
The interviewing, filling-out applications, and articulation skills learned during the pageant process help in all walks of life. When applying for a job or college, all of the above acquired abilities will be very useful. To learn to speak more effectively onstage and off, consider taking public speaking courses. Read books about writing speeches and competent delivery. Read, learn and practice – perfectly.
4. Making New Friends = sisterhood
Beauty Pageants are, essentially a competition. Yet, even with all the girls competing against each other, it is also a place that many of them can become a lifetime friends.
The girls you compete with become your family, regardless of all the stereotyping about catty girl fights and fake personalities – you’ll be happy to learn that it isn’t true.
In the larger beauty pageants, there are many hairstylists, makeup artists, photographers and stylists involved with the contestant herself. Most of the girls that take part in them, realize that they have experienced something unique, special and creative, that not many people have a chance to. This life changing experience often ties them together. It is somewhat a tradition that all the girls congratulate the winner – some people claim that their happiness might be fake and for the sake of the show, but if the women really have become friends, why wouldn’t they be happy for her success? Support system, backbone, encouragement, and being happy for new friend’s success !
5. Life Changing Opportunities
So lets be honest, we have to meet people in order to be successful. Beauty pageants are an excellent way to meet new people. From the producers, to the photographers, to the venue director, to the other contestants and of course the sponsors. Networking is vital in today’s society if you want to succeed in business and/or in your personal life. Pageantry gives you a window of opportunities, this world ties in with the entertainment world! So, it opens doors to modeling, acting, hosting, advertising, fundraising, performing, and much more! Even if you want to speak out about things you are passionate about for philanthropy points of views as well!
A time of self-discovery.
Pageants give you a time to showcase your talent with other wonderfully artistic young ladies: enjoying their routines, picking up hints for improving yours, and thoroughly enjoying your moment in the limelight. To boost your acting or presenting talent, consider joining a drama club in school or trying out for a local theater. Any talent competitions help you work towards that professional edge beauty pageants winners possess and may lend you a good job!
6. The Prestige of wearing the CROWN in Your Community
It might not seem like much to those that have never been involved in a beauty pageant, but gaining a title of the most beautiful man or woman is quite something to those that have gained them. Even the small, locally organized beauty pageants grant their winners a fair dose of recognition and respect for winning. That fuzzy, warm feeling that you get from not only winning, but also being recognized as a real winner is truly something irreplaceable.
The crown and sash are materialistically the highlights of the competition. But always remember that you define the crown, the crown does not define you. Meaning, you make the crown, so do something good, amazing, and make a difference. Your reign is only a year, and in a year you can do whatever your heart pleases! The best sides of pageantry are the organizations you get to work with or begin! I’m talking here about giving back to community, paying it forward, and doing the right thing! Pageantry gives you the opportunity to network with numerous organizations and work with them, help them spread the awareness and much more! Note, you don’t need a sash or crown to be involved with your community!
7. Someone Has to Win the Crown and the Prizes !
One of the simple reasons to enter beauty pageant is that somebody has to win, and your chance of winning is as good as anyone else’s. As the saying goes, you’ve got to be in it to win it. If you don’t enter, your chance of winning is zero! So have a go and see what happens – it could be your lucky day.
In the past, winners of the large pageants have won a new automobile and a scholarship as well as the crown which the winner gets to keep. Some pageants offer cash prizes and in some cases all the contestants receive trophies, sashes, gift certificates or gift baskets. Potential contestants should also note that once they have financial backing, they will get to keep the costumes, gowns, shoes and accessories from the event. Its a last on our list of the million reasons to enter a beauty pageant but still the nice one!
